I will not cede the moral high ground to people who looked the other way

Here’s what Patty Murray had to say about serial sex predator and killer of Mary Jo Kopechne, Ted Kennedy upon his death:

When I was young Ted Kennedy was larger than life. I could not believe it when I first walked out on the floor of the Senate and he walked over to welcome me. From that day on, he became a valued friend, a courageous partner, and a personal mentor.

From my earliest memories in the Senate when I watched him patiently and passionately argue to pass the Family and Medical Leave Act, to his last moments when he led the charge to pass legislation that guaranteed equal pay for women and encouraged Americans to serve and give back to their country as he did, Ted never once stopped fighting for those who couldn’t fight for themselves. [Unless, perhaps, they were drowning in his submerged vehicle] The country is indeed a better place because of him.

His loss is very personal to me. I will miss him. Our country will miss him.

I’m sure Mary Jo Kopechne’s family misses her, too, but, you know, acceptable losses.

And here’s what Murray had to say during the Senate impeachment hearings for Bill Clinton:

This President’s behavior was reprehensible, but it does not threaten our nation. In the past year, despite the scandal that ran on the front page nearly every day, our country has prospered. Our economy is growing. Our waters and air are cleaner. Our communities are safer. Our education system is stronger. America is not poised on the brink of disaster. Our democracy is safe.

I wonder if Roy Moore’s actions from 40 years ago threaten our nation.

And here’s what Claire McCaskill said about Ted Kennedy:

This man was so much more than his image. While his vision soared, the power of his personality and the magnet of his intellect drew his colleagues to the table of compromise. It was there he did his best work. His love for the little guy and his affection for the underdog influenced everything he did. [Ah, yes…the little guy. And gal. Especially waitresses.] And importantly, his sense of humor and contagious laughter made him real and approachable in spite of his power and privilege.

Mmm-hmmm…I’m sure Carla Gaviglio thinks about his infectious laughter every time she remembers the “waitress sandwich” prank. Hilarious!

Let me clarify something right here. I am not defending or excusing any past behavior on the part of Judge Roy Moore.

But.

Patty Murray and Claire McCaskill, who gave Ted Kennedy a pass on a lifetime of predation, are going to have a say in whether or not Roy Moore will be seated in the Senate, should he win election.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, they have to say. I, for one, am not looking forward to being lectured to, from their supposed moral high ground, on the moral moral implications of seating Roy Moore from women who gave Ted Kennedy and/or Bill Clinton a pass on a lifetime of sexual predation.

The Democrats’ #1 political strategy

Me: Maria, why so sad? Maria: The GOP just killed millions of women.

If Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell actually believe the things they tweet, they may be the stupidest people around, lacking sufficient intellectual depth to understand any topic at more than a surface level.

And that’s if I’m being nice.

The other possibility is that they’re shameless partisan hacks*, mindlessly spouting off leftist talking points regardless of the truth. In other words, they’re liars.

For example, last Thursday, the Senate voted on whether or not to allow states, at the discretion of their own legislatures, to withhold Title X funds from family planning clinics that provide abortions. Basically, the vote allows states to choose not to use that federal money to fund Planned Parenthood. That’s it. That’s all the vote authorized. Not a single thing else.

Federalism is good, right?

Not according to Murray and Cantwell, who apparently don’t trust states to make the “right” decision. You know, the decision that agrees with them. So they were going on about the Title X vote as though every woman in America has suddenly been cut off from access to any health care whatsoever. Or as Patty Murray says…ZOMG, Women will die and Mike Pence is the devil!

Let me state this as clearly as I can. If Planned Parenthood values providing other kinds of services more than they value providing abortions, they can simply stop doing abortions and reduce the risk of losing Title X funds to zero. But they won’t, which makes it seem as though Planned Parenthood is unnaturally attached to providing a service which makes up, as they claim, only 3% of their business.

If last week’s vote accomplishes nothing other than to allow the states to disburse Title X funds, why, then, are Democrats so determined to mislead the public about it?

I recently wrote, “Democrats…repeat lies until they’re ground into the public consciousness and internalized as truth.” Democrats know that defunding Planned Parenthood is a winning issue for the GOP; therefore they must lie to try to steal the win. That they lie in ways specifically calculated to instill fear in women is particularly contemptible, because it illustrates their misogynistic belief that women are politically naive and easily manipulated. This is the basis for the entire “Republican war on women” story line.

Fear is a powerful motivator. Powerful enough to cause otherwise rational and intelligent women to march for rights they already have. Fearmongering. It’s the Democrats’ #1 strategy and it’s disgusting.

Oh, it looks like Maria is as tired of her partisan hackery as I am.

Of course we all know that Senator Maria Cantwell is a shameless partisan hack, so it’s no surprise when she confirms it as she did today.

…I cannot support cloture and will not support the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Judicial qualifications aside, Cantwell objects to the fact that Gorsuch doesn’t share her policy positions.

Don’t forget that when George W. Bush nominated Gorsuch to the federal bench in 2006, he was considered so non-controversial that he was confirmed by a unanimous voice vote of those present, including Maria Cantwell.

What a hypocrite.

 

I don’t stand with Planned Parenthood

This will probably come as no surprise to you, but leftists disgust me. I’m not talking about well-meaning but misguided people like my liberal neighbors. I’m talking about hard left politicians and activists.

Today in particular, which has been designated as a “Pink Out Day,” whatever that is supposed to mean – and thanks for spoiling a perfectly good color, BTW – I’m thinking of women who have made protecting Planned Parenthood their mission in life. Women like Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell, Suzan DelBene (can you tell I live in Washington?) and Elizabeth Warren.

Planned Parenthood was birthed out of the negative eugenics movement of the 1930s and it would appear they’ve been wildly successful, as 40% of all African-American pregnancies end in induced abortion.

Today’s leftists are selling Planned Parenthood as essential health care. In case they’re not aware, abortion isn’t health care unless pregnancy is a disease, which, to be perfectly fair, some of them probably believe. But generally speaking, the goal of “health” care isn’t usually a dead, dismembered baby. By definition. Seriously, look up the definition of health care.

Planned Parenthood could do one simple thing to secure federal funding from now until our inevitable financial collapse: stop providing abortions. In the meantime, the funds they’re currently receiving could be channeled into the more than 1,300 federally funded community health centers which provide actual health care without the ethical baggage of abortion. In their own words:

HRSA Health Centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance – you pay what you can afford based on your income. Health centers provide services that include:

• Checkups when you are well
• Treatment when you are sick
• Complete care when you are pregnant
• Immunizations and checkups for your children

Some health centers also provide mental health, substance abuse, oral health, and/or vision services. Contact the health center organization directly to confirm the availability of specific services and to make an appointment.

As you can see, HRSA health centers probably provide more services than are available at your local planned parenthood clinic.

This is a not hard and if leftists weren’t exclusively focused on allowing the maximum number of women to kill their own babies as quickly and easily as possible, they’d see it, too.

Word games

Al Franken…what can I say. The words he says here make grammatical sense, but taken as a whole, what he’s saying is nonsensical.

I would love to hear how Franken defines “consensus,” because it must be quite different from how I define it.

In point of fact, Merrick Garland was confirmed to the D.C. Circuit by a vote of 76 to 23, although honesty forces me to note that at least some of the “no” votes were probably motivated by the belief that the 11th seat was unneccessary.

Neil Gorsuch, on the other hand, was unanimously confirmed to the 10th Circuit by a voice vote of 98-0. He was so non-controversial that 12 current senators, including vocal opponents Chuck Schumer and Patty Murray, voted for him. Call me crazy, but that seems very consensus-like to me.

Democrats like to play word games. They change the meaning of words and repeat lies until they’re ground into the public consciousness and internalized as truth. If you don’t believe that, consider that at one point, 52% of Democrats believed Russia tampered with vote tallies in order to get Donald Trump elected President.Gosh, that couldn’t have had anything to do with the constant repetition by Democrat politicians and pundits that the election was “hacked.” Could it?

Word games. Al Franken is playing fast and loose with the meaning of consensus. He wasn’t a senator in 2006 so he won’t be a hypocrite like Patty Murray, but he’s still a shameless partisan hack.

A group of Democratic female senators on Wednesday declared war on the so-called “gender pay gap,” urging their colleagues to pass the aptly named Paycheck Fairness Act when Congress returns from recess next month. However, a substantial gender pay gap exists in their own offices, a Washington Free Beacon analysis of Senate salary data reveals.

Of the five senators who participated in Wednesday’s press conference—Barbara Mikulski (D., Md.), Patty Murray (D., Wash.), Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.), Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) and Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.)—three pay their female staff members significantly less than male staffers.

Murray, who has repeatedly accused Republicans of waging a “war a women,” is one of the worst offenders. Female members of Murray’s staff made about $21,000 less per year than male staffers in 2011, a difference of 35.2 percent.

Apparently equal pay for equal work is fine, you know, for icky private businesses because everyone knows they’re evil anyway. But Democrats, by virtue of their pure motives, needn’t be bothered with the rules they force on the rest of us.

Go ahead and read the whole thing, but don’t blame me if the irony overloads your brain and your head explodes.

As my mother would have rather inelegantly stated it, piss or get off the pot. Please. Anything to put an end to the speculation. And, really with a state delegation that includes Baghdad Jim McDermott and Patty “Osama Builds Daycare Centers” Murray, would it make all that much difference?

Who’s Dumber Than A Box Of Rocks?

I frequently argue with a group of politically-minded friends over which Senator is dumber: Patty Murray (D-WA) or Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Opening the competition up to House members adds Hank Johnson to the mix and perennial favorite, Maxine Waters. Waters brings not only her “elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor” intellect, but also a profound inability to avoid saying what’s really on her mind.

Which, if you think about it, is really a plus for freedom lovers everywhere. As long as they keep her far, far away from any national security secrets.

Can anyone tell me who the disgusted gentleman seated to Waters’ right is? Or the blonde woman on his right? She can hardly keep from laughing out loud.

You may remember a Rasmussen poll a while back that found 45% of U.S. voters felt the U.S. would be better off if Congressmen were selected randomly from the phone book.

Well that’s just the crazy talkin’, right? Everyone knows our elected officials are the nation’s elite, the best and the brightest, the cream of the crop, head and shoulders above the common citizen. Or not.

Of course there’s no way to know what level of government the people taking the test served but but it does make you wonder, could your Congressmen pass?
